My Favorite Pizza Dough

In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, salt, and yeast. Next, add olive oil and water. With a wooden spoon, stir until mixture resembles a thick mass. Dust with a little flour and knead in bowl for about 2 minutes until no dry bits of dough are incorporated.

Ingredients

  • 400 grams bread flour (may substitute with all-purpose flour)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 ½ teaspoon instant dry yeast (rapid rise)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 250 milliliters luke-warm water

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, salt, and yeast. Next, add olive oil and water. With a wooden spoon, stir until mixture resembles a thick mass. Dust with a little flour and knead in bowl for about 2 minutes until no dry bits of dough are incorporated.

  2. Turn the dough onto a work surface, then knead for about 4 minutes dusting with a small amount of flour as needed.

  3. Place the dough in a large bowl. Cover the bowl with a piece of plastic wrap. Leave it in a warm place until the dough has doubled in size, for about 1-1.5 hours.

  4. Punch the dough down and turn on a work surface. Form a ball and divide it into 2 pieces. Form each piece into a bowl and knead each piece for about 1 minute. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rest for about 20-30 minutes.

  5. Form each piece to a pizza pie. Pre-bake each pie on one side on a pizza stone in the oven or grill heated to 500 degrees Fahrenheit for about 3 minutes. Turn it over and top baked side with your favorite topping. Return pizza to the pizza stone in the oven and bake for additional 4-6 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
